Between 20 and 26 July 2015, The Czinka Panna Roma Cultural Association organized a camp in Balatonszárszó for 30 disadvantaged senior students from Győr and its area.
30 socially disadvantaged children had the opportunity to camp for free for 7 days with full board. During their development, Children are becoming more and more aware of their strengths and weaknesses and they gain more knowledge of the world. That’s why it is very important for them to get an insight into how important their lifestyle can be.
Children’s lifestyle determines their health, can help to strengthen it, and also to develop their attributes. An inadequate lifestyle favors the development of many illnesses, so it is vital for children to experience what is the right way for a healthy lifestyle and what they have to do about it. The days of the camp were thematically organised, every day was built around a different theme, and the children were able to take part in conversations, lectures and playful activities on these topics. Monday was the introduction and getting to know each other day. On Tuesday, they had lectures on healthy diets and the children learned how to prepare fruit salads and make playful vegetable sculptures. On Wednesday, crafts and tradition were in the focus, with crafting programs and evening dance. Literature and history had the main stage on Thursday, when the József Attila Memorial House was visited and the children had the chance to play historical themed boardgames. The Friday program was centered around spending some pleasant leisure time with nature and boat trips. On Saturday, sport came to the front so in the morning the children could take part in sport competitions at the beach in Szeged, while in the afternoon, they could try the dragon boat.
All in all, the camp was a great success, the kids returned home with new experiences and friendships.
